Thousands of People Mourn the Death of Hamas Leader in Qatar

Haniyeh’s body was buried in the cemetery in the Lusail area of Doha, the city where he lived since 2019 and which also houses Hamas’ political office.
Thousands of people attended the funeral of the leader of the Hamas political bureau at the Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab mosque in Qatar on Friday, May Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed by Israel in Tehran.

The funeral ceremony was attended by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, members of the Turkish government, officials from Pakistan and Malaysia, as well as representatives of different Palestinian organizations.
First Vice President of Iran, Mohamad Reza Aref, also attended the funeral to convey a message of solidarity to the people of Palestine.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, through the social network X called the murder of Haniyeh execrable and highlighted Ankara’s support for the Palestinian cause.
During the week, world leaders have shown their repudiation of Israel for the murder of Haniyeh and have denounced its criminal actions.
On the other hand, the government of Iran announced three days of public mourning, while Turkey and Pakistan declared this Friday a national day of mourning.
Ismail Haniyeh was killed while in the Iranian capital to attend the investiture ceremony of the president-elect, Masoud Pezeshkian, which took place on Monday, the day before the attack.
